RE: Equalizer question

Wouldn't concern me at all to do it on a limited basis.

RE: Three Safety Tips

90+% of our camping is boondocking where we might not even see another soul for several days, sure gives us a reason to be as self sufficient as possible.

RE: Cummins 5.9 or 6.7?

Mine is a 97 5.9 & one of the things I like about it is she'll burn almost anything that is flameable such as WMO WVO SVO ATF even gearoil. Plus to go to over 400 hp cost less than $20.

RE: Leaving TV tires aired up?

If they are to high for the load, as the rears on a PU with nothing in the bed, the center of the tire will wear faster. The same as with low pressure the sides wear faster. It would take hundreds of miles to see a difference in the tire wear unless you chalk the tread and run it a short distance. Plus stopping distances will be greater when overinflated/underloaded.

RE: What Hitch and sway control does everyone use?

EZ lift w/100# bars & no sway control. Most of the time I tow up the columbia gorge & theres allways wind but if you stick the front wheels where they need to be & quit worrying about the 31' TT behind you it stays behind & follows along quite well.

RE: 6V Golf cart battery suggestions

Mine fit everything except the old boxex & my local rv repair shop now has 6 volt boxes for the same price as the little 12 volt ones.

RE: Boon Docking

We use our furnace & can go for 4-5 days with just (2) 6 volts but we are very frugal with the electricity & don't use the tv or stereo etc. I figure as long as the DW still likes me we can always find something to do to amuse our selves.

RE: Battery use while boondocking

Sure but why we can go for a week in nice weather can even get 4-5 days in the winter with just our 2 6 volts but we are quite frugal with our power. Its nice that the DW & I can find things to amuse us that don't require electricity.

RE: Determining grade

Highway grades are determined by % as in 1 foot of vertical gain in 100 feet of horizontal run, also remember very few highways are greater than 6% of incline though there are some exceptions.

RE: Would you still buy a 4x4 if you had

It's one of the things I still like about this semi-free country of ours, if I can pay for it I can buy & drive whatever I can afford & suprise suprise you can do the same if you chose to.

RE: 2003 Dodge Ram Door Panel Removal

SidKaye - I want to thank you for sending page copies out of the Dodge service book. The Internet gets a bad rap for porn and scams, but there is also much good on the net. This website is the perfect example of the good side of global communication through the Internet. Happy RVing to all of you. Wait a minute whats wrong with scams & training films we gotta laugh at something don't we.

RE: Headlites

I'm amazed at a couple of things first that everyone assumes that this applies only to TT's & not to 5'ers as well, & that we are talking about only a 1/4 -1" but has no one thought that if you move a 100 yards down the road facing oncoming traffic that 1/4-1" has become up to 12"-18" of misalingment? I started this thread b/c of my own observations since I drive at night every night I may see more cases of this than most IMO.

Headlites

How many of you readjust your headlites after hooking up to correct for the now nose up attitude of your tow rig? And please be honest my observations are that since I drive at night an avg of 500 miles, at least 95% of the RV'ers towing at night have not & you can tell quite easily since they are happily pointing there lights in the oncoming traffic's eyes.

RE: whats the price for weighing

Lots of the provincial scales are left on when they are "closed" so you could go out after hours & do it yourself or even go when they are open park out of the way & go ask normally they are happy to weigh you.

RE: dodge diesels

Probably not the cat. It's the DPF. Diesel Particulate Filter. Thank the Federal Government. The Big 3 all run the DPF. Could be a vehicle software issue. Also, becomes a problem if the wrong fuel or wrong motor oil is used (CJ 4). Correct also it should be doing its reben on its own if not there is probably a sensor bad since the ones on class 8's are now going for a couple of 100k miles without any attention.

RE: egt guage install

I put mine in pre-turbo which gives IMO a more accurate reading with quicker response but does allow a small chance of the tip burning off & going thru the turbo.
